Through in-depth statistical analysis of popular rare coin series, CoinStats identifies the best. In certified rare coins. We are proud to offer this unique and outstanding investment tool exclusively to our clients. Why is CoinStats so helpful to rare coin investors? Since 1960, our President and Founder, Barry Stuppler, has been helping develop numismatic investment strategies for thousands of highly successful rare coin investors and collectors. About 15 years ago, based on speaking with a number of rare coin investors who were also active in the stock market, Barry realized that there were many similarities between identifying undervalued stocks and undervalued rare coins. He realized that the similarities between stocks and rare coins could be helpful in forming numismatic investment strategies if he could just harvest and properly formulate the needed information. That’s when CoinStats was born. Barry started out with the “market capitalization” (market cap) of each coin in the five most popular series of rare U. Gold and Silver coins. For stocks: market cap = number of shares outstanding X price per share. For Rare Coins: market cap = population X price. Population is determined by the number of coins graded by NGC, plus the number of coins graded by PCGS; Price is based on the PCGS current list price. The first step in identifying undervalued coins is comparing the market cap of coins based on the formula above. CoinStats then goes on to compare the decrease in population of the next higher grade, to the increase in price of that grade. The largest percentage of decrease in population for the next higher grade, combined with the highest percentage increase in price, identifies the. As collectors and investors are priced out of the market for the next higher grade, their attention turns to these. CoinStats has consistently helped investors outperform even the overall market in investment-quality coins for the past 15 years. CoinStats is provided FREE of charge to all current clients! Stuppler & Company (parent company of Mint State Gold) is pleased to provide all current clients with a free copy of our current issue of CoinStats. Walking Liberty Half Dollars. A PQ (Premium Quality) sticker is awarded to rare coins that pass a strict grading standard created by Barry Stuppler, a well-known and highly respected dealer with over 50 years of experience in the numismatic industry. The founder of the PQ Approved sticker, Mr. Barry Stuppler, is a former President of the American Numismatic Association, the country’s largest coin association, where he focused on consumer protection. Barry is also one of the original supporters of the first major grading service, The Professional Coin and Grading Service (PCGS). Barry has a long history of helping collectors and investors to build several of the highest quality and most expensive collections of investment quality rare coins in the world! Based on Barry’s experience and expertise he has developed a stringent set of grading standards for PCGS/NGC capsulated coins that when met, those exceptional coins are awarded the esteemed GOLD PQ STICKER. The stringent standards for being awarded a GOLD PQ STICKER are based on the strong desirability of these coins to both beginning and experienced collectors/investors in rare coins. Buyers have shown they want well-struck rare coins that have brilliant surfaces and no planchet problems or die defects. This criteria is not considered by other services that offer stickers, and makes finding a coin with a GOLD PQ STICKER a true beauty to have. Only the highest quality coin, which historically has proven to offer the best appreciation and liquidity compared to similar non-PQ graded coins. About Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles The Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle is widely considered to feature the most beautiful designs in the history of United States coinage. Created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the coins would be struck across three different mint facilities from 1907 until the recall of federal gold in 1933. During the first year of the series, a small number of patterns would be struck in ultra high relief, followed by limited production for circulation in high relief, and finally mass production in modified lower relief. The series includes a number of extremely rare issues, which were created due to the impact of mass meltings following the recall of gold coinage. The design of the series was the result of a historic collaboration between President Theodore Roosevelt and sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The president had expressed disapproval of the current circulating coin designs, all of which had been in use for more than half a century. He wanted America’s coins to be objects of beauty and expressions of national identity. He chose America’s most renown sculptor for the task of redesigning all United States circulating denominations. Ultimately, Saint-Gaudens was only able to redesign the double eagle and eagle before his death in 1907. Letters exchanged between Roosevelt and Saint-Gaudens also reveal the role which the President played in the creation of the new coin design. One of Roosevelt’s ideas was to strike the coins in high relief, referring to the extent that the sculpted images of the coin project outward. He further suggested raising the rim in order to protect the surfaces of the coin. In the ensuing months, models were prepared and further improvements were made to the original design. It was also determined that the date would be featured in Roman numerals, which would be a first on American coinage. Many of these ideas were strongly rejected by Mint officials, in particular by Chief Engraver Charles E. Throughout this period, Saint-Gaudens was struggling through cancer and his condition was worsening. Before he passed away, a small number of patterns were struck in ultra high relief. This represented the original design as intended by Saint-Gaudens, however the coins proved impractical to produce. Following Saint-Gaudens’s death, an alternate set of dies were put into production featuring the design in high relief, although this design also proved challenging to produce. Barber prepared a final set of lower relief dies, which would be used for mass production. Obverse Design The obverse features a full figure of Liberty, striding confidently forward. In one hand she holds a lit torch and in the other an olive branch. The Capitol dome can be seen in the far background and rays of the rising sun fill the fields. There are 46 stars surrounding, representing the number of states in the Union at the time. The word LIBERTY appears above. The date, which appears at lower right, was first expressed in Roman Numerals to present a classical look, but later changed to Arabic Numerals. The designer’s monogram “ASG” appears beneath the date. Reverse Design The reverse design features a bald eagle in flight. The sun appears below with its rays extending upwards into the fields. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and TWENTY DOLLARS appear above. During 1908, the design was modified to add the motto IN GOD WE TRUST between the sun and its rays. The edge of the coin carries the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM with stars placed between each of the words. Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco. 0.9675 troy oz.
