Mintage Limit = 180,000. The Morgan Dollar was designed by Mint Chief Engraver George T. Morgan (1845- 1925) and minted from 1878 to 1904 and again in 1921. This iconic silver dollar represented the country’s westward expansion and industrial development in the late 19th century. Created through the use of modern technology and historical U. Mint assets, the new Morgan Dollar has a beautiful reverse proof finish. The obverse features Liberty in profile. A cap, flora, and crown incuséd with the word “LIBERTY” adorn her head, while 13 stars, “E PLURIBUS UNUM, ” and the year of issuance encircle her. In December 1921, the Peace Dollar design was approved by Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon, replacing the Morgan Dollar and marking peace between the U.
