MCM Picks: Memorial Day. 5-Coin Set – 2019-Mo Mexico Gold Libertad Coins NGC MS70 FR Exclusive Mexico Label SKU59827. Few coins can compare to the Libertad in terms of the fervor of its fans. Libertad collectors are passionate about this issue thanks to its stunning beauty and successful capturing of Mexican patriotism and independence. This set of five coins consists of the four fractional Gold Libertads (1/20 oz, 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/2 oz) and the 1 oz piece. Each coin in this set was struck from. 999 fine gold at Casa de Moneda de Mexico, which is represented by its famous and unique “Mo” mint mark, which is on the reverse. Exquisite Winged Victoria Design. Each of the five coins in this set features the current coat of arms of Mexico. It consists of an eagle eating a rattlesnake while perched upon a cactus. The image has its roots in ancient native religions, but today Westerners reinterpret it simply as representing good’s triumph over evil. Arching over this image is the name of the issuing country in its native Spanish, “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS” (United States of Mexico). On the 1 oz coin, the current coat of arms is encircled by the country’s historic coats of arms. All five coins in the set share a common reverse, which features Winged Victory, a statue that stands atop a victory column in downtown Mexico City. The statue is a symbol of the nation’s independence. The figure has her wings spread as she holds her right hand out and holds a broken chain, symbolic of her previous ties to Spain, in her left hand. Her garment is falling away, which leaves her bare breasted. She is flanked by a pair of volcanoes, Popocatipetl and Iztaccihuatl, which rise in the background. The volcanoes are named from lovers of ancient lore, which is one reason that the Libertad is popular among those who share their favorite hobby with their significant others. Inscriptions along the top part of the rim offer the coin’s weight, date, and purity. Flawless MS70 FR with Exclusive Mexico Labels. All five coins in this set earned Numismatic Guaranty Corporation’s (NGC’s) highest grade, Mint State 70, which is only given to coins that appear perfect even under 5x magnification. The coins were also certified First Releases, which indicates that they were submitted for grading no more than 30 days after their initial mint releases. This information comes on labels that feature El Castillo, the famous pyramid at Chichen Itza. Add this 5-Coin Mexico 2019-Mo Gold Libertad Set to your collection today. Our in-house numismatist staff assign conditions to all products. The condition assigned to the products is derived from industry-wide standards. Please keep in mind that most images are stock images, and therefore you should not expect to receive the pictured products. Silver products, and some gold as well, may exhibit milk spots, and/or toning, which are normal and do not change the condition described in the listing, nor the value of the product. Coins that are holdered by one of the major grading companies are graded based on the condition they were in at the time of grading. However, at times, coins do tend to develop spotting or toning which are a normal happenstance in coins. Please keep in mind, the appearance of the toning and/or milk spots does not mean that the coin is not the grade specified on the actual slab. In instances where there is a discrepancy where the customer believes to be unjust, please refer to the grading companys guarantee policy. Both NGC and PCGS have a program where they will compensate the owner of the current coin if they believe the coin deserves a lower grade than it had originally received. Please note, bullion coins, bars and rounds are mass-produced and are not struck to the same quality standards as collector coins. These bullion products are not certified and therefore will not always be 100% perfect. All sales are final and therefore in cases when a product is offered on a Deal Price, previously locked-in orders for that product will not be subject to price reductions or cancellations. Bullion Exchanges reserves the right to cancel sales that may or may not have typography issues within the listings, pricing inaccuracies, systematic faults by our system, and/or errors caused by eBays system, without further notice. Purchasing bullion and/or coins involves price risk, and the purchaser assumes all such risk. We do not offer or make price adjustments based on the market fluctuations of precious metals, or for any other reason. We will never ask the customer to pay more for a product if the price significantly increased, so please refrain from requesting price adjustments after market prices decrease. Please feel confident purchasing from me and be sure to check out my new feedback connected with my new store! Hand struck gold coin. Size: 13.58 x 9.78 mm. Weight: 4.69 g. Please note that this coin comes with no Authentication papers. I have had several Numismatics I have contacted on the mainland agree that this is the real thing! The price listed takes this into consideration. OBV: Head of lion to right, mouth open, mane bristling, and radiate globule above eye. R: Two square punches of different size side by side. Herodotus is one of the pieces of evidence often cited in behalf of the argument that Lydians invented coinage, at least in the West, even though the first coins were neither gold nor silver but an alloy of the two. The dating of these first stamped coins is one of the most frequently debated topics of ancient numismatics, with dates ranging from 700 BC to 550 BC, but the most common opinion is that they were minted at or near the beginning of the reign of King Alyattes (sometimes referred to incorrectly as Alyattes II), who ruled Lydia c. The first coins were made of electrum, an alloy of gold and silver that occurs naturally but that was further debased by the Lydians with added silver and copper. The largest of these coins are commonly referred to as a 1/3 stater (trite) denomination, weighing around 4.7 grams, though no full staters of this type have ever been found, and the 1/3 stater probably should be referred to more correctly as a stater, after a type of a transversely held scale, the weights used in such a scale (from ancient Greek =to stand), which also means standard. These coins were stamped with a lion’s head adorned with what is likely a sunburst, which was the king’s symbol. To complement the largest denomination, fractions were made, including a hekte (sixth), hemihekte (twelfth), and so forth down to a 96th, with the 1/96 stater weighing only about 0.15 grams. There is disagreement, however, over whether the fractions below the twelfth are actually Lydian. Alyattes’ son was Croesus, who became associated with great wealth. Sardis was renowned as a beautiful city. Around 550 BC, near the beginning of his reign, Croesus paid for the construction of the temple of Artemis at Ephesus, which became one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. Croesus was defeated in battle by Cyrus II of Persia in 546 BC, with the Lydian kingdom losing its autonomy and becoming a Persian satrapy.
