The coin was issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the San Francisco Mint surviving the 1906 earthquake and fire. Minting: The coin was minted at the San Francisco Mint and carries the “S” mint mark. Design: The reverse side, shown in the image, is based on the 1906 Coronet Liberty Half Eagle reverse. Grading: The coin has been graded as PF 70 Ultra Cameo, which is the highest possible grade for a proof coin, indicating a flawless surface with a deep, mirrored field and a frosted design. The label also notes that it has been hand-signed by Wayne Miller, a silver dollar expert. Commemoration: The coin honors the Old San Francisco Mint building’s role in the aftermath of the 1906 earthquake, as it was the only financial institution to survive the disaster and served as a treasury for relief funds. But there’s more, The coin’s label is a special “Authentic Hand-Signed” label by renowned numismatist and silver dollar expert Wayne Miller.
