From its humble beginnings, the series has emerged into one of the world’s leading annual bullion issues. This is largely thanks to its stunning designs, which are changed every year (with one exception in series history). The Panda broke new ground in 2016 when the China Mint began issuing it in metric units rather than imperial ones. This 30 g piece, which is the successor to the original 1 oz coin, was struck on a planchet of. It is part of a mintage of 700,000 pieces. Featuring an Adorable Panda Design by Song Lina. Like previous Gold Pandas, this one features the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests on the obverse. The Hall is a tiered circular building that stands upon an elevated platform from which stairs lead down toward the holder. It is located in Beijing’s Temple of Heaven. The building is encircled by a rim frame in which there are two inscriptions, “People’s Republic of China, ” which is in its native Chinese, and the date, 2020.
