SPAIN 1622 DATED 2 ESCUDOS NGC 45 ATOCHA YEAR GOLD COB DOUBLOON TREASURE COIN This VERY RARE Assayer G Gold Cob is partially dated (16) 22 on the cross side you can see the bottom of the 22s in the legend, especially in the raw pic. The partial DATE (16) 22 can be best seen in the first picture shown here (the Cross side), look at position 9 oclock and you will clearly see the two 22s! The YEAR OF THE ATOCHA 1622! This is the first time weve seen a gold escudo dated or partially dated the year of the Atocha. This of course does not necessarily mean its from the Atocha, we just dont know and there were only a handful of gold escudos ever recovered from the Atocha, but its sure nice to see a Gold piece dated the year of the ATOCHA!!!
