Dom Frei Manuel Pinto da Fonseca (1681 23 January 1773) was a Knight of the Langue of Portugal. He was the 68th Grand Master of the Order of the Holy Religion of the Knights of St John of Jerusalem, of Palestine, of Rhodes, and called Malta, from 1741 to 1773. He was a Portuguese Nobleman, the son of Miguel Álvaro Pinto da Fonseca. De Ranhados, and wife Ana Pinto Teixeira. He was elected on 18 January 1741. On 25 May 1743 he gave his name to the then town of Qormi giving it the status of a city. In 1749, one of his bodyguards, Cassar, refused to join a plot led by Pasha Mustafa to stage a Muslim slave revolt. This refusal led to the exposure and suppression of the revolt. This event was then celebrated on every anniversary, 29 June. He expelled the Jesuits from Malta. He completed the Auberge de Castille, one of the most important buildings in the capital city, Valletta, which had been started in 1574 and his bust and arms adorn its façade. Today this building houses the Office of the Prime Minister. He made substantial donations to the Conventual Church, and of the most notable mementos worth mentioning are two large and heavy bells cast by the Master Founder of the Order of St. John, Aloisio Bouchut in 1747 and 48 respectively which still hang in the belfries of the Co-Cathedral. Pinto built several storehouses on the Marina which still bear his name. When he died his body was laid to rest in a monument with a mosaic portrayal of him. This is a major tourist attraction in Malta. He was a friend of Cagliostro. His coat of arms portrays five red crescents simbolizing that he once defeated five Ottoman Turks single-handedly. The city of Qormi adopted this as its own coat of arms and flag. Actually, those are the Arms of the. Family with the enamels exchanged. He had an illegitimate son by one Rosenda Paulichi, daughter of Alberigo Paulichi and wife Patronilla Ramuzetta, named José António Pinto da Fonseca e Vilhena, who married his first cousin Maria Inácia Pinto da Fonseca de Sousa Teixeira e Vilhena, illegitimate daughter of Francisco Vaz Pinto (his father’s brother) by one Clara Cerqueira. 1598, Spain, Philip II. Certified Gold 4 Escudos Cob Coin. Certified and graded by NGC as AU-53! Obverse: Coat of arms of the Spanish line of the House Habsburg. Mint letter (S) above mint mark (Gothic P) to left. Legend: PHILLIPVS ° II ° DEI GRATIA. Reverse: Cross of Jerusalem within quatrefoil with invereted leaf terminals. Annulets in outer fields. All within pelleted border. Legend: + HISPANIARVM REX. For your consideration a rare 4 escudos gold cob coin, struck under Philip II of Spain between 1556 and 1598 at the Spanish mainland mint of Seville. A magnificent and valuable specimen, and a great addition! The first coinage of the New World and what comes to mind when we think of Pirate Treasure are pieces of eight. These first coins, often called cob coins, were made from roughly cut planchets (blanks) by striking them with hand dies. The word Cobb comes from a simplification of the Spanish phrase, Cabo de Barra, which translates as, from a bar. After the coins are struck, they are weighed by an assayer who cuts off any excess Silver which is why most coins have some of the impression cut away. The Cobb coin, like anything that is no longer available is becoming very scarce and hence more valuable. The few remaining Coins are the last vintage of the glory days of pirates and Treasure hunting and are fast disappearing into private hands. Philip II of Spain Spanish. 21 May 1527 â 13 September 1598 was King of Spain as. In Aragon and Portugal as Philip I Portuguese. During his marriage to Queen Mary I, he was King of England and Ireland and pretender to the kingdom of France. As heir to the Duchy of Burgundy, he was lord of the Seventeen Provinces of the Netherlands. Known in Spanish as “Philip the Prudent”. , his empire included territories in every continent then known to Europeans and during his reign Spain was the foremost Western European power. Under his rule, Spain reached the height of its influence and power, directing explorations all around the world and settling the colonisation of territories in all the known continents including his namesake Philippine islands. However, he was also responsible for four separate state bankruptcies in 1557, 1560, 1575, and 1596; precipitating the declaration of independence which created the Dutch Republic in 1581; and the disastrous fate of the 1588 invasion of England. Philip was born in Valladolid, the son of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor and King of Spain, and his consort, Isabella of Portugal. He was described by the Venetian ambassador Paolo Fagolo in 1563 as slight of stature and round-faced, with pale blue eyes, somewhat prominent lip, and pink skin, but his overall appearance is very attractive. ” The Ambassador went on to say “He dresses very tastefully, and everything that he does is courteous and gracious. How many 1992 500 Yuan gold proof superb Gem coins for Sale=====99 minted–small fraction known to exist—Rarest Panda w great pricing history! 1992 500 Panda Gold Proof Ultra CAMEO PROOF Yuan. REDUCED FOR SALE___SEE 100% RECORD 20 YEARS ON EBAY__BEST DEAL ON 1992 IN DECADES–RAREST AND HAS TRADED UPWARDS TO. The technical description—–Fr-B3; KM-400; PAN-174a. Mintage of only 99 pieces. Brilliant with hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices. Also included is the original wooden display case and certificate of authenticity #000060. This coin has phenomenal numismatic value. And it has an amazing perfect 70 look. While a mintage of 99 was officially planned, the 1992 5 oz gold Panda is one of those coins where the actual mintage is believed to be significantly lower than this figure. In reality it may well be as little as half of this. Interestingly, in a similar fashion to other 5 oz gold Pandas, the design on the reverse face is also unique within the Panda series. 1992 saw the reappearance of the 5 oz gold Panda coin in the Panda series after a break of a few years; 1988 previously being the last year in which the 5 oz gold Panda was issued. The official mintage was massively reduced in 1992. As a comparison, the 1988 5 oz gold Panda had an official mintage of 3,000, while the official mintage in 1992 was just 99. 5 oz gold Pandas dating from 1992 1996 are all very hard to come by, and fetch very high prices/premiums when they do rarely make an appearance. The 1992 coin is considered to be the key date coin for all Panda collectors. Gold has surely been on a rise and steady incline–another great base and attribute to this item—from last 6- months and at 11 month gold highs —- NGC graded and still with the original box and papers direct from mint.. That’s rare in itself–Plus this is the rarest year for this coin—LESS THAN 99 MINTED! And less than 1/2 survive. This impressive and scarce 1992 5 ounce. 999 pure gold Panda coins are rare with low mintage’s of only 99 (perhaps 1/2 of that at best remain)—reportedly 60% or more have been melted–as seen on only 13 being graded to date by NGC. Coin comes with the original box and certificate of authenticity. Population estimated to be only 15-25-this is the rarest of 500 Yuan Pandas. With Box and Papers and finest known-this makes this example a true rarity in Pandas. The Obverse of coin shows the Temple of Heaven and date (s) of issue 1992. And the Reverse shows the artfully and poignantly minted Panda Bear and its cub. The added value is added with original packaging-box papers from the mint. Take your pick of the dates we have available -. Like the other 5 oz. Gold Pandas, this coin sports a unique design not seen on any other denomination. It features a mother Panda with a cub along the banks of a stream, or river. This is the only 1 available for Sale recently? Worthy for the advanced collector. These pictures are the actual huge massive 5 ounce Gold coin in this lot–The pictures show the luster and crystal clear fields & Ultra Proof status –as these coins are direct from mint–they were double sealed and never have been opened from a tiny mintage published at 99 or much less–do the research. Better pictures are coming. This is just in and more are on route. In addition —see our other auctions and sales. We have extensive stock of ms 63-65-and 66. We have deep inventory. Probably the largest in the industry. Back to the Panda 500 Yuan—Who has ever seen a solid gold coin this gigantic? This Panda 500 & 1000 Yuan 12 ounce coin(s) is without a doubt an extremely rare piece of Chinese history and numismatics. These coins typically have a mintage of less than stated. Due to refining the Gold and there are few if any for sale anywhere else on these sites. Compare this with the fact that there are over 1.3 Billion people in China and it becomes obvious that the 12-ounce gold Panda coins are an essential part of every Panda coin collection… And a manageable manner in which to invest in Gold. And Gold continues to rise at a 11 month high………. A great hedge and numismatic play/. Or we can deliver at the upcoming shows. And our Large Sized high denomination US Currency. In order to provide our customers with the best quality certified coins, Pinehurst Coins only deals in NGC and PCGS certified coins. NGC and PCGS are the most highly respected third party grading services in the coin industry today. Customer service is our number one goal. The coin pictured is only a representation of the coin you will receive, not the exact coin (serial numbers will vary). All of our packages are fully insured. Other methods may be used depending on circumstance. This time frame is only an estimate, not a guarantee. Once an order is placed it can only be canceled not adjusted. We always do our best to provide our customers with speedy service; however some things are out of our control. There is always the possibility for a delay due to these third party services or the possibility of a product becoming damaged or lost in transit. The simple fact is, all of the above-described scenarios are unacceptable to us and we will never put this burden on our customers. If anything happens to a product in transit, we will always be willing to replace the product. For large orders with customers that we do not have a previously established business relationship, a wire may be necessary. This will be determined at the discretion of Pinehurst Coins. We do not offer discounts unless it is otherwise posted on our listing. Please see individual listings for details. Placing an order locks in your price. We do not offer price adjustments on our items. Both the precious metals and numismatic markets can be volatile and change on a regular basis. Placing your order locks in your price and this price cannot be adjusted. We always do our best to satisfy our customers. ALL BULLION ITEMS ARE FINAL SALE. Due to the volatile nature of the bullion market all gold, silver, platinum and palladium bullion sales are final. You may cancel your order, however all cancellations will be subject to any market loss as described in our Market Loss Policy. Founded in 2004 by current President and CEO Vincent Wade, Pinehurst Coins is a family owned and operated business. Since the companies inception, the goal has been simple; create a business model in which the client always receives excellent customer service and a quality product at the best possible price. We have stuck to this model and never looked back. At Pinehurst Coins we are very much aware that coin collectors are immensely pragmatic and detail oriented. We know what our clients want and what they expect. This is precisely why we always go the extra mile to ensure every coin we sell has been thoroughly inspected by one of our full time numismatists before it ever makes it into our client’s hand. For those of you who are existing customers and are taking the time to read this; we thank you. As for the first time customers, we appreciate you giving us a chance to meet your numismatic needs and we promise that you will not be disappointed. The item “2019 $5 American Gold Eagle 1/10 oz.
